“O ancient scent from fairy-tale times …” – the title of the final piece from Schönberg’s melodrama cycle “Pierrot lunaire,” begins with a musical quotation from the Sprechstimme line, establishing a leitmotif at the beginning of Ingeborg Bachmann’s “Malina.” To mark the poet’s 100th birthday, composers will be engaging with one of the most significant authors of the 20th century. Featuring a reading and additional works, the evening promises to offer an abundance of interconnections, with literature and music entering into dialogue with one another.
