“Future Is Now,” a production by the Neue Oper Wien, takes as its point of departure Nina Hagen’s infamous 1979 appearance on “Club 2.” With wit, audacity, and subtle sensitivity, the three performers breathe new life into this extraordinary talk show, weaving together history, the present, and the music of the 20th and 21st centuries. The various scenes are linked by works from different musical genres and engage with contemporary themes such as sexual diversity, vulnerability, and societal values.
