In October 1911 Anton Webern wrote to his friend Alban Berg: “Yesterday I bought a wonderful Ibach grand piano together with Schönberg. Black wood with a matte finish. I am extremely happy with it.” Founded in 1794, the company was one of the leading piano manufacturers of the time. Arnold Schönberg also owned an Ibach instrument, which is now on display at the Schönberg House in Mödling. Our foundation has received Webern’s Ibach grand piano on loan from the Province of Lower Austria in order to present it in these historically significant rooms. We would like to celebrate the acquisition with a concert that is connected to the two pianos in many ways.

With the support of the Federal State of Lower Austria and the Municipality of Mödling
