Focusing on works from throughout Schönberg’s life, the seminar will explore his evolving creative processes and ideas of the mind in the context of cultural, political, and technological developments. Works will include Second String Quartet, op. 10, Three Piano Pieces, op. 11, “Erwartung,” op. 17, “Die glückliche Hand,” op. 18, “Serenade,” op. 24, Six Pieces for Male Chorus, op. 35, the Concerto for String Quartet and Orchestra, and the String Trio, op. 45.
