Not all dances were meant to be danced. Stylized dance types from folk and court music have been part of the established canon of instrumental music since the Baroque era. During the Viennese Classical period, the scherzo became the rhythmic center of symphonies and string quartets. And despite titles not always providing direct references, dance elements have been pervasive throughout music history – as this concert will convincingly demonstrate.
Cooperation Arnold Schönberg Center, ORF RSO Vienna and ORF RadioKulturhaus
As part of the chamber music series of the ORF RSO Vienna “Aus nächster Nähe”
The concert will be broadcast on radio Ö1 on May 6, 2025 at 7:30 pm in the program “Das Ö1 Konzert”.
