For each of the 50 female composition students of Arnold Schönberg who were forgotten or unheard, the Wiener Festwochen will welcome contemporary women composers from all over the world to Vienna. As ambassadors of Second Modernism, the invited composers will present their own pieces, form networks together, and develop strategies of visibility. The works will be performed by Klangforum Wien. The aim of Akademie Zweite Moderne [Academy of Second Modernism] is the commitment of theatres, operas, festivals, concert halls, and ensembles to significantly increase the proportion of works by women composers in their programs.
Project of the Wiener Festwochen in cooperation with the Arnold Schönberg Center
