Arnold SCHÖNBERG 15 Gedichte aus »Das Buch der hängenden Gärten« von Stefan George op. 15
Franz SCHUBERT Entr’acts und Ballettmusik zum Drama Rosamunde D 797 (arr. Arnold Schönberg)

Tickets € 14 | Free admission for persons under 26 years

In August 1904, Universal-Edition in Vienna published an arrangement of Franz Schubert’s “Rosamunde” by Arnold Schönberg. It is likely that Schönberg was inspired by the highly expressive nature of this incidental music. Four years later, he wrote his great song cycle based on poems by Stefan George, which became a landmark of early atonality. In our concert, the two seemingly very different works engage in dialogue with each other, thus revealing their latent similarities.

5.30 pm: Curator’s tour with Therese Muxeneder
through the exhibition “Arnold Schönberg & Karl Kraus” (reservation required) – FULLY BOOKED OUT

The event will be streamed live on facebook and YouTube and will be available seven days after the concert.
