Arnold SCHÖNBERG Streichquartett Nr. 3 op. 30
Ludwig van BEETHOVEN Streichquartett Nr. 15 a-Moll op. 132

Ludwig van Beethoven was the epitome of a role model for Schönberg – in his textbooks, his work is a binding example of compositional practice. At the same time, the Viennese classic was an avant-gardist of his time: Beethoven’s late string quartet breaks with the conventions of the genre. Schönberg’s Opus 30 remains faithful to the traditional forms, but transfers them into the sound world of the 20th century with the twelve-tone method.
