Hannah Fheodoroff, a singer of the Volksoper Wien, presents a special program at this song recital: while Krenek’s “Reisebuch” follows Franz Schubert’s footsteps and musically depicts memories of Austria, Eisler’s “Hollywooder Liederbuch” addresses the experience of exile. Schönberg’s “Drei Lieder,” on texts by the contemporary poet Jakob Haringer, was one of the composer’s last works written in Europe and his only contribution to the genre based on the twelve-tone method. The renowned Zeisl biographer and exile scholar Karin Wagner will read from her recently published book of Schoenberg family recollections.
