Whether in New York or Shanghai, in exile or in inner emigration, on the paths of modernism or in the echoes of romanticism, the unifying element of this diverse concert is the connection of all the featured composers to the founding father of the Second Viennese School. The “Close to Schönberg” project focuses on rediscoveries from the Universal Edition archive; on works that disappeared from the publisher’s catalogs after Austria’s “Anschluss” in 1938. A concert in words and sound – against forgetting – an homage.
