With the 34th edition of “Music City Lab,” isa is embarking on an entirely new chapter: the event is taking place in Vienna for the first time, and thus is even more closely linked to the great Viennese music traditions that encompass the Viennese Classical period and the Second Viennese School, and extend all the way to the present day. Especially during Johann Strauss’ anniversary year, the question arises: What gives Viennese music its Viennese flavor? In what contexts does this quality appear, and what are its characteristics?
