One hundred years ago, Arnold Schönberg conducted an orchestral concert in the municipal theater in Mödling, where he was living at the time. This year, on his 150th birthday, the Mödling Symphony Orchestra will celebrate the composer at the same venue with a multifaceted program. With Beethoven and Bach, works by two of Schönberg’s great role models will be performed, while Alexander Zemlinsky was a friend and important teacher. Rainer Bischof, Schönberg’s grand-disciple and a pioneer of the twelve-tone method developed in Mödling, has composed a new work especially for this concert. The final work is the brilliant opening music from Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s film score “Kings Row.”

Concert as part of “Serenadenkonzerte” of the State of Lower Austria at interesting locations of musical history in cooperation with Arnold Schönberg Center, the City of Mödling and the Mödling Symphony Orchestra
