A concert cycle presented by ensemble LUX in the Or Chadasch synagogue in Vienna was the inspiration for Thomas Wally’s composition “15 Miniatures.” The piece’s primary reference points are works which were performed at that concert cycle, all of which were written by composers with a connection to Vienna as well as to Judaism. Central to Thomas Wally’s composition are the string quartets of Arnold Schönberg, whose Third String Quartet will be performed during this moderated concert.
