Arnold Schönberg’s String Trio, op. 45 was composed during the recovery phase after his serious illness. Despite its high demands on listeners and performers alike, the expressive work has established itself as a permanent fixture in the concert repertoire. The trio by the Australian Frederick Septimus Kelly, who died in the First World War at the age of just 35, is still completely unknown – his work is still awaiting rediscovery. The miniatures by Herwig Reiter were written especially for the Kreisler Trio Vienna on the occasion of the composer’s 80th birthday.
6.30 pm: Curatorial tour with Therese Muxeneder
through the exhibition "Gazing into the soul with Schönberg" (separate registration required).
The concert will be broadcast live on facebook and YouTube and will be available for seven days afterwards.
