“Ahead to nature! Had I a maxim, it could perhaps be this. I think, however, there is something even loftier than nature.” (Arnold Schönberg, Theory of Harmony) The Orchestral Piece, op. 16, No. 3 is groundbreaking in many respects. Called “Colors” or “Summer Morning at the Lake” by the composer, it is associated with impressions of nature in its title and also in its aural quality. The Ensemble Wiener Collage follows the traces laid by Schönberg and plays contemporary compositions that refer associatively or structurally to scenes or processes of nature.
