Arnold Schönberg considered the fantasy a “free form” characterized by extensive figurations, improvisation, and spontaneous expression. Musical fantasies in the most diverse forms still exist today. Alexandra Karastoyanova-Hermentin, for example, writes about her music: “The constructive is alien to me. The search for something that cannot be defined by rules, by an intuitive process ... is difficult to explain.”
